IMPORTANT INFORMATION: MITIGATING RISKS THROUGH THE MERGE
The Ethereum merge is expected to take place between 13-16th September. Our top priority is the safety and security of the Maple platform and its users, so have taken steps to mitigate any risks associated with Ethereum moving from Proof of Work (PoW) to Proof of Stake (PoS). Maple will not support Ethereum PoW post-merge, and when interacting with the protocol throughout this time, all users must be aware of the below.
1. Maple will pause the Maple protocol on the Ethereum PoW network post-merge. Pausing the protocol will mitigate any potential replay attacks.
2. Post merge, Maple will no longer support Ethereum PoW. If a user connects to the Maple WebApp with a wallet on the Ethereum PoW network, the WebApp will show the error seen below.
3. Maple users should not sign a ‘Sign with Permit’ data or transaction on the Ethereum PoW network after the Merge under any circumstance. The signature has the potential to be used to facilitate a transaction on the Ethereum PoS network. This is known as a replay attack, meaning that it re-uses signed data on more than one network.
The only Ethereum URL that Maple uses is: https://app.maple.finance/
If a user is asked to sign data on a Maple ‘looking’ UI on the Ethereum PoW network, it is likely a scam and must be avoided.
Currently the only user flow which uses sign with permit is depositing MPL into xMPL when connected with MetaMask.
If you have any questions reach out to the Maple team via Intercom on the WebApp or through our Discord channel.
